Sisteme de generare energie regenerabila

[one_half]

Dimensionare sistem fotovoltaic.

As the cost-benefit of decentralization of energy production is becoming more acceptable, renewable energygeneration systems at the consumermake their way, slowly but surely, in the energy mix of Romania.

The spiral of energy prices, accelerated by burdensome taxes despite centralized overproduction, pushes those brave or ingenious to reduce their reliance on the distributor holding the monopoly of connection and network operation.
We discussed with Mr.Dan Paraipan engineer, General Manager for Ecoalternativ Construct, about the advantages and disadvantages of production facilities at the point of consumption. Also about what happens to energy not consumed, and about the future plans of the company in the market of residential installations.

What are the key market opportunities for
the spread of residential renewable energy
systems?

First, there are the customers living in newly built residential communities where utilities expansion remained behind the real estate development.

Expensive housing was built there, where access is made on dirt roads, impassable when it rains, and the owners of the households have electricity generators. For a new power line, costs can reach up to RON 10,000, and after commissioning, it becomes the property of the distributor. Those who invested money cannot recover part of the investment by sharing the costs of the new network with those who will connect in the future.
Secondly, there are those who have electricity through the distributor’s network, but it is undersized and subject to frequent power failure particularly dangerous in the case of solid fuel-fired thermal power plants. A production system at the consumer is an insurance policy against the dependence on this network.
Then, we have customers who want to reduce their energy bill, or who purchase in order to reduce CO2 emissions.Last but not least, there are also potential customers from remote or difficult to access areas, such as owners of vacation homes in the mountains, or farms.

What are the main advantages and disadvantages
for the holding of such facilities?

There are multiple advantages. Ensuring higher or lower energy independence depends on the installed production power, installed batteries, but also other technical components, in relation to the centralized network. In this way, the negative effects of power outages, or of recording a surge or too low voltage, can be largely or completely removed.
There are also psychological benefits; some customers find personal satisfaction in the use of energy resources which does not have harmful effects on the environment.
The main drawback that we have identified is the payback period of the investment. Those working with us have a minimum cost of 2,800 euros for a photovoltaic system with an output of 5 kWh/day, or 150 kWh per month, sufficient for average consumption of housing.
In general, depending on the installed power and system location, costs are amortized in 3-5 years. However, there are attempts to spread such investments in other ways than by own investment.
European funds can be accessed, especially by economic agents, but the state does not seem to be willing to contribute. For example, the Green House (“Casa Verde”) program does not include the installation of photovoltaic panels or wind turbines.

How is a system chosen, how is back-up provided
and happens to energy left unconsumed?

The most important factor is the available budget. Then, one should determine what is the purpose of using a generation point at the consumer.
In principle, the objectives are to decrease the energy bill and partial or total independence from the distributor’s network. In terms of resource, depending on location, one can choose either a photovoltaic system or a hybrid wind/photovoltaic system. On our website we have a map with the insolation degree and the wind potential of Romania on areas. The production power of the system is set depending the customer’s consumption and its objective.
For back-up we use two deep-cycle batteries, in which a certain amount of energy is stored, but there are also other means of intervention, such as storage by transformation into caloric energy or into hydrogen, or injection into the network of surplus power. The last method is difficult to achieve in Romania, due to bureaucracy and the lack of flexibility in granting permits and authorizations of “Small energy producer”.
We have in the engineering and testing phase a system to use power surplus for water electrolysis. Another project already in use is an “intelligent” module to monitor and manage production surplus.

What is the minimum technical and operational
knowledge required from customers
by these systems?

For the photovoltaic system, cleaning must be made twice a year of panels and snow must be removed. For wind turbines, which have parts constantly moving, maintenance is required once a year, in which we check the smooth running of the components, grips, bearings, etc. They can all be made by our company. Otherwise, the system is fully automated and does not require the beneficiary’s intervention.

What are the main objectives for this year and
for the following period?

We hope to complete the pilot-project of energy storage as hydrogenand we have in tests even a turbine suitable to be installed in residential areas or in areas with a turbulent wind regime. We want to obtain patents for both of them. We also want to expand our area of activity in the LED lighting business for household and industrial and industrial consumers and for street lighting.[/one_half_last]
